| 75027 (a) The current California Water Plan breaks the state up into several regions with differing water distribution characteristics. One of the largest of these is the South Coast Region. For the purposes of this initiative, this region is broken into 3 smaller sub-regions, San Diego, Santa Ana River, and Los Angeles-Ventura. Similarly, two other regions, North and South Lahontan, are to be treated as one region. With that understanding, the funds defined in 75026 are to be allocated as follows: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| 75027 (b) The Unallocated funds may be spent by the Department to address issues of statewide significance. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 75028 (a) The Department shall allocate grants on a competitive basis. It may establish standards and procedures for selection, deferring to approved local selection, as long as projects are consistent with 75026. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 75028 (b) If a region lacks a plan meeting the requirements of 75026, its funds shall NOT be allocated to some other region. The funds will be held until the region is able to present an adopted plan. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
